Delete your account
You can delete your ReaderTree account from the web or mobile app. This page describes exactly what happens — plainly, because it cannot be undone.
What happens
Deletion is immediate. The moment you confirm, your account record is deleted and everything attached to it is removed with it. There is no waiting period, no queued request, and no grace window.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone or cancelled. We cannot recover your shelves, notes, or reading history afterwards.
What gets deleted
- Your profile — username, display name, avatar, bio, location, and website
- Your shelves and every book on them
- Your reviews, ratings, comments, and private ratings
- Your reading progress, sessions, streaks, and highlights
- Your lists, tags, notes, and reading goals
- Your follows, followers, club memberships, and challenge entries
- Your notification settings and push-notification tokens
- Your marketplace listings and trade offers
- Your sign-in identity, removed from our authentication provider
Delete from the web app
- Sign in at readertree.app.
- Open Settings from the account menu and select the Privacy tab.
- Under the danger zone, choose Delete account.
- Confirm twice in the dialog. Deletion runs immediately and you are signed out.
Delete from the mobile app
- Open the ReaderTree app and sign in.
- Go to Settings.
- In the Account section, tap Delete account.
- Confirm twice in the dialog. Deletion runs immediately.
Can't sign in? Email us
If you can no longer access your account, write to [email protected] from the address you registered with, and include any usernames you used. We verify the request by email before deleting anything.
What is not removed automatically
- If you sold books through the marketplace, your Stripe seller account and its transaction records are held by Stripe, our payment processor, under its own legal retention rules. Email us if you would like help closing it.
- Emails you have exchanged with support remain in our support mailbox until you ask us to erase them.
Take your data with you first
Deletion removes your export too. If you want a copy of your shelves, reviews, and notes, download your data from Settings → Privacy before you delete.
